Under the alias Aquaboogie, Wellingtonian Stuart McDonald released several singles and EPs during the heyday of net labels around the turn of the century, as well as more self-releases, including three albums. The last, Bellend Epoque, was self-released in 2012. But Selected Ambient Whelks 2004-2009 (2009) is the obvious starting point for this site.
Elsewhere, Aquaboogie’s music routinely include beats courtesy of the sounds of vintage drum machines, but I still think there’s strong appeal for ambient fans with his use of field recordings and the prevailing gentle atmosphere.
