Auckland soundtrack composer Peter Hobbs has also released solo albums in recent years based around thick synth improvisations and sounds of the natural world. These include recordings made in situ, as per the photo.
The latest album at this time is Tomo (2023), developed and produced for the dance work, and released by New Zealand institution Rattle.
There are plenty of other albums to explore on Hobbs’ Bandcamp, including other soundtracks of various types and going all the way back to his (very much not ambient) Dunedin band, Kitset.
